So on Friday I went to see a movie called Grace Unplugged and I loved it!
I first heard about this movie back in January or so, because one of my favorites, the singer/actor AJ Michalka from 78Violet is the star of the movie. So mind you, I have been waiting a long, long time for this movie to come out.
This movie tells the tale of Grace Trey, an 18-year old girl who wants to pursue music after graduating high school. Her dad happens to be former one-hit wonder, Johnny Trey (James Denton), who dropped the rock-star life after he brought his life to Christ, and is now the worship leader of their church. After numerous battles with her dad, Grace takes matters into her own hands and flies out to LA when her dad’s former manager decides to sign her onto a record label. While in LA, Grace struggles to please her manager and the president of the record label, and impress the infamous Renee Taylor so she can be the opening act, but she is pressured to compromise her values. Enter Quentin (Michael Welch), a Christian and intern at the record company, who encourages her and asks her the most important question about her journey… is she doing this for herself, or God?
So, I’m not going to give away the whole movie, that’s just wrong. After all, I had to wait ten months to see how it all turned out… so you should wait until you see it too, ha.
Anyway, the acting was great, the message was perfect and really makes you reassess why you are pursuing your dreams and what you’ll do to get there. I think this movie is a must-see for everyone, Christian or not.
Hollywood needs to make more movies like this one. Ones that have moral values and actually send out a message to its audience, not just movies that will waste two hours of our lives.
So, do me a favor, go see Grace Unplugged!
