Harry Potter Book Challenge: Complete

One of my reading goals this year was to reread the Harry Potter books before September first… and I DID IT!!

Why September 1st?  Why not give yourself the whole year?

Come on, if you know Harry Potter at all, you know that this year, September 1st is the date of the epilogue in Deathly Hallows – 19 Years Later.  This was why I wanted to finish them before that date.  Of course, now it feels like my childhood is literally ending (let’s forget the fact that I’m 26 years old…) because ‘the future’ of the series that seemed so far away is here.

Another good reason to have reread the books this year was because this year we celebrated the 20th anniversary of when Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was published, in the UK anyway (I still need to get my copy of the 20th anniversary edition when I have some extra money).  Next year will be the 20th anniversary of when the Sorcerer’s Stone was released in the United States.  It’s hard to believe it’s been that many years and still, the series is so popular!

It makes me extra happy that I was among the original kids to read the Harry Potter series – the generation that had to suffer as we waited for the next book (later movies) to be released.  As much as I enjoy some other book series’, nothing will ever to the experience of reading the Harry Potter books.  I only wish I could read them for the first time again.

Again, I am happy to have completed reading the books again along with all the other books I’ve read this year.  Now I can focus on reading some new books and trying to complete my goal of reading 40 books this year while starting school in two weeks.

Have you completed any reading goals this year?
