So as I mentioned in my previous post, I went camping for a few days with my dad, his girlfriend and her kids. I have my own personal tradition when I’m camping which is to read a few books out in the sunlight and get some color on my porcelain skin. One year I actually got a really bad sunburn on my legs from sitting out and reading all day.
In past years I read an average of about 4-5 books, but then again I was usually reading a series so it was easier to just keep reading and reading all day. Plus, as I previously mentioned, I never usually left the campsite because I wasn’t comfortable venturing out on my own. This year though, I only read two books – Taking Chances and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Taking Chances was one of those emotional roller-coaster books, and though there were parts I could not stand or just didn’t care for, I really did enjoy the book and couldn’t put it down until I finished it. I actually wrote a full review on Goodreads.com. Just to be clear, I definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves romance stories, especially when they include love triangles.
As for why I reread the first Harry Potter book… well, this is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, reread all the Harry Potter books. I don’t think I’ve really reread any since just before Deathly Hallows: Part I came out in theaters, so it’s about time I read them again. As I read the book again for the first time in years I mentally pointed out all of the things that were different in the movies and the things they left out. However, I enjoyed reading it once again because you always seem to catch something that you missed before, just like when you rematch a movie. So now that I’ve read the first one, I plan to read the next 6 very soon.
Assuming I go camping next year, I plan to keep up this tradition and maybe next time I’ll bring a few more books, just in case.
