I saw this prompt on two different blogs I follow, and while I was originally going to wait and do this post for my birthday to add one extra item… I’ve decided that I’m too impatient to wait another five months for this post. So you’re getting it now.
What is the prompt? Write a letter (or list post) defining one thing you’ve learned for every year you have been alive.
25 Things I’ve Learned About Myself in 25 Years
1.) Hot chocolate is my downfall.
2.) My taste for certain foods has changed greatly in the past 2-3 years. I like a lot of foods now that I hated when I was a kid/teenager.
3.) I like setting goals for myself, even if I’m doomed to fail.
4.) I sometimes have a hard time letting go of the past; regretting decisions I made or certain things I did or didn’t do. I’m learning more and more each day to just put it behind me… I can’t do anything about it now.
5.) My imagination often wanders off on its own… which is why I sometimes think I could still write a book one day.
6.) It either takes me two days to read a book or two weeks.
7.) Talking to God about anything (literally anything) brings me peace when I’m completely honest with Him.
8.) I have a hard time with spontaneous plans, but I’m working on that.
9.) I’m torn between wanting kids to give my mom grandchildren someday (and because I have awesome names picked out), but I’m also terrified to raise a child in today’s world.
10.) Walks can calm me down when my emotions are running high.
11.) Ice cream is my other downfall.
12.) I think it’s awesome to be able to play an instrument, but I have no desire to learn one.
13.) I can spend an entire day in a library or bookstore so long as I have food with me.
14.) I get my indecisive quality from my mom (but I love her anyway!)
15.) I have more school pride for the college I attended online for my Associate’s than I do for the school I got my Bachelor’s from. (Go Flames!)
16.) I retain a lot of useless information and song lyrics.
17.) Lying is something I’m terrible at (which is actually a good thing).
18.) My childhood was definitely not a normal one, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything (not even a normal childhood, ha!).
19.) I will never tire from people being shocked when I tell them my actual age.
20.) I enjoy giving people gifts, especially when they’re unexpected or something meaningful.
21.) Starting this blog is one of the best things I’ve done… I only wish I had started it sooner.
22.) Procrastination is probably my worst flaw.
23.) I definitely like my hair better with the highlights and wish that my hair would just naturally go back to the red color that I was born with.
24.) I still love to make videos, it’s just not my dream job like I thought (but I wouldn’t say no to working on another movie).
25.) I definitely like my hair better without bangs. It only took me until I was 20-21 to learn this fact, and that my mom had been right all along (go figure).
I’m going to be honest, it took me a few days to think of this stuff. It wasn’t that easy. Of course, maybe if I was a few years younger it would’ve been easy, ha. But this was a fun post to write up.
