So this morning when I checked my email I got one from YouVersion Bible App saying that today is the 2016 International Day of the Bible.
Though we should appreciate and share our favorite verses from God’s Word everyday, it’s nice to make it a global event to get some recognition of the Bible. I shared a photo of my own Bible with Luke 11:17, which I feel really applies to the state of America right now.
Not too long after sharing my Instagram post, I felt compelled to celebrate this event on my blog as well. Only I don’t to share just one verse, but rather a few of my favorite verses. These are verses that have gotten me through some tough points in my life or tend to stick out to me, especially as of recent.
And here they are:
“Everything has already been decided. It was known long ago what each person would be. So there’s no use arguing with God about your destiny.” – Ecclesiastes 6:10
“For I can do everything through Christ,[a] who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
“Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!” – Ecclesiastes 5:10
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” – Genesis 50:20
“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” – James 1:19
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” – Romans 8:31
“Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.” – Proverbs 29:11
Honestly, I could keep going with more of my favorite verses, but to avoid overloading you lovely people I’m going to stop here. I’d also like to save some for when I decide to do another post with some encouraging Bible verses or ones that we Christians should really try to live by more (or at least I know I should, hehe).
What are some of your favorite verses?
