The classic school-age lunch… a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
I can remember eating a lot of these in elementary school and really liking it. I’m usually simple when it comes to food, though some people may call it “being picky.” Okay, so I might be a teensy bit picky, but I’m a lot better than I was as a kid.
But speaking of my childhood, I had recently remembered that I liked an alternative to the classic PB & J sandwich back in Kindergarten – the other classic, a peanut butter and fluff sandwich. So I started to crave a peanut butter and fluff sandwich and when I had made one night my mom told me about how her mother, my Nanni, used to make my mom and her siblings peanut butter and jelly and fluff sandwiches.
What?
I don’t know about the rest of you, but that was the first time I’d ever heard of that. I didn’t like the sound of it at first. After all, with both jelly and fluff on it the sandwich had to be way too sweet to eat as a lunch.
I had to try it, obviously.
Although I did in fact love this newfound creation (at least to me), it’s not a sandwich I would make for the reason that it is a lot of sugar between the jelly and fluff. The sandwich I made did not taste overly sweet as I used extra peanut butter to compensate for the sweet taste.
So now I just have to try this sandwich with strawberry jelly (since my aunt said it’s really good that way too).
