Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award Nomination!

In the words of the minions I love so much from Despicable Me…

Whaaaaat?

sisterhood-of-the-world-bloggers-award11I’m shocked and also honored to be a nominee for this award.  I believe I had to read the comment jestimous left on my blog about five, six… eighteen times before I could even start to believe it.  And actually, I’m still in disbelief.  I mean, I’ve known about blogging awards, but I never thought my blog would get nominated for one.  I started this blog as a place to share my thoughts and experiences with whomever wished to read because in person, I sometimes have a hard time speaking my mind, but when I write the words just flow out of me (cliché, right?).

So I’d like to give a huge shoutout and thank you to jestimous for nominating me; you literally made my day!

As for everyone else reading, you should be kind souls and go check out her blog.

MY 10 QUESTIONS
  1. What inspires you to write?  The outlet that writing offers.  For over ten years now writing has been my main source of creativity and letting the stories built up inside of me get out into the world, whether they were fiction or not.  I love that with writing I don’t need to be fancy with my words, especially when it comes to blogging.
  2. If you could describe yourself with a song, which song would you choose? If you can’t think of a song that describes you, pick one that moves your soul.  I’d have to say… The Heart Wants What It Wants by Selena Gomez.  Though I cannot relate to this song in the meaning of a relationship, I can relate to it in the choices I’ve made for my professional life.  Even so, this song moves me as well because there are so many people who can relate to this whether it’s with relationships or not.  They’re going to follow what their heart wants even if it’s not the ideal career or best relationship, no matter what others say.
  3. What is your favorite guilty pleasure?  It’s a tie between singing at the top of my lungs and dancing like a fool (when I’m home alone) and binge-watching a good show on Netflix.
  4. Why did you decide to start a blog?  I just wanted a place to share my thoughts and experiences.  I know diaries are good for such writing, but I wanted it out on a platform where anyone could read it and hopefully relate to it.
  5. Who is your favorite fictional character?  Uggghhh, this question.  If we’re talking about books, then I’d have to say Ginny Weasley.  It honestly irritates me how the movies botched her character because in the books she was a more active character and was a lot more feisty when it came to her interactions with others.
  6. Who is the biggest inspiration in your life, or who inspires you the most?  My mom.  She’s been through so much in her life and honestly all those things collectively should have broken her down years ago, but she’s a fighter.  She’s never turned to drugs or alcohol to cope with the trials life has thrown at her.  She truly loves God and knows that she can do anything through Him (and she’s done a pretty darn good raising me if I do say so myself).
  7. What are your aspirations for the next 5 years of your life?  Since I’ll be graduating college this coming May, I’d say to just be working in my field and be loving my job, but who doesn’t want that?  I guess I could say that, like most people, I do want to get married and (possibly) have a family, but before all that, I mainly want to be financially stable and healthy.
  8. What advice would you give to other writers, or others interested in starting a blog?  Just write.  It doesn’t matter that if you want to write say, a cooking blog, that there are tons of other cooking blogs… the difference is that they aren’t yours.  You need to write because you offer a different outlook on life or whatever it is you wish to write.
  9. What is the most meaningful gift you’ve ever received?  I’ve received a lot of meaningful gifts so it’s hard to choose, but I guess in general it’s when someone gets me an unexpected gift that I forgot I even wanted or it was something they got because they thought of me when they saw it.
  10. What is something that is guaranteed to make you laugh?  Jeff Dunham videos.
