Let’s face it, social media is affecting our lives greatly. While I like to believe in the positive aspects of social media, such as staying in touch with old friends and meeting new friends, there are side effects to using social media frequently.
One of these conditions is known as Selfie Syndrome.
To be fair, I made this video a year ago for a class project for my social media convergence class. I got the idea from a few of my cousins who post selfies on Instagram everyday… I’m not even kidding. While I still like to view this video as a parody, I can’t help but feel that this condition might be considered an actual condition in the near future (if it isn’t already).
So we might as well get the awareness spread about Selfie Syndrome now before it’s too late!
The selfie syndrome is well and alive! I second your sentiments about it being annoying – I see lots of selfies on my FB newsfeed and I have started blocking them. Heard too many stories of deaths as a result of people’s attempts at selfies…quite sad, too. And the recent selfie fad that has made its round is the Donut selfie…let’s see where that takes us!
Tabby;
Congratulation for choosing burning, thought-provoking and very very important topic.
Wishing you all the best…………………..
We kind of enjoy it…though we never take them & would never post them. We have found that people either love or hate them. For a split moment that person feels good about themselves & that is not a bad thing in this crazy world. They definitely have an audience. Great post.
