I’ve been singing this song since The Lion King came out when I was only three years old. It’s probably about time I implement the phrase as my motto.
I tend to worry about things more than I should. I know that I need to let go and let God because no amount of worrying is going to help me or my loved ones. And no matter how much I wish I could go back and do some things differently, it’s already done and there’s no changing it. It’s a waste of time to worry or dwell on the past.
“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” – Matthew 6:27
This isn’t saying that I shouldn’t be prepared or think ahead, but if things don’t go as I want them do, I need to not worry about it. It goes along with my problem of being indecisive – I need to not overthink every little decision and just make a choice. If it happens to not be the right one, I can lean on God, knowing that He’ll turn everything out for good.
I need to learn to take that step that comes after praying, which is to let go, and let God.
In children’s terms…
Hakuna Matata.
